My name is Christina. Me and my husband (Adolfo) had a trip with a brazilian group in the Baani Explorer last month (march 15 – 24). We enjoyed everything! We would like to thank you for this opportunity to discover the most beautiful place in the world! The weather was wonderful. In the boat, we felt like we were at a luxury hotel. Everything was always clean and organized. All the crew is very kind and qualified. All of them were always thoughtful and friendly. After first dive in the morning, we were welcomed with a breakfast carefully made by Vijay and Srikan. Besides, every meal they were asking us if we were enjoying the food. It was very satisfying. Gayan is very kind and generous. He and Ahmed were attentive to our needs, providing excellent service always smiling. Maajid and Uffey worked hard too. The captain Chon and his assistant Moodu have been driving the boat safely, with professionalism, always concerning with our comfort. They are very friendly. The Dhoni crew is very special too. They drove us to unforgettable dives at wonderful places. We were divided in 2 groups to dive. Me and my husband dived with divemaster Moosa. He and Malak exposed a detailed briefing, preparing to safe diving. Moosa was always attentive to us and everything during the dives. He showed me many things that I had never seen. He is a very experienced divemaster and he even taught some things about photo sub. Very nice! We loved dive with him. Malak is gentle-hearted, very calm and patient person. He is a great diver too! Chaali is a funny guy. Furthermore, he says "no problem" all the time and do everything to solve any problem, with tranquility. Moosa, Malak and Chaali are professionals, intelligents, friendly and funny dive guides. The beach barbecue was amazing! We will never forget it! Day and night all the crew were ready to do anything possible for us. We hope to return soon with our brazilian friends and we would like to have the same crew in the boat for the next time, because we think we made friends there. Best regards

We read Brian's interesting reading, which had already been submitted to us from other passengers on the same trip.
Another point of view is that a terrible vacation for some, can be a wonderful vacation for others. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and it depends on your outlook on life and what you want to focus on.
We prefer to look at what made our vacation great, and we realize that there is no such thing as having a vacation where everything is perfect 100% all the time, and we don't expect it.
There were many things that made our vacation wonderful for the two weeks we were on the Baani Explorer:
We had a great group of divers on board from five different countries and everyone got along very well, and we had fun and good times together. We went to the Maldives for the second time for the diving, and it exceeded our expectations. We saw different types of sharks on almost every dive; we saw more manta rays than we though possible, we even saw three together on one dive; we saw one whaleshark which we snorkled with; dolphins swimming at the surface; we saw numerous turtles, eals, napoleons, stingrays and schools of fish so large that it darkened the waters like a cloud going over the sun. Isn't that what most divers would dream to see on their trip? The staff were great and went out of their way to ensure that anything you needed or asked for was done for you. Two of us had requested special meals, and without fail, we had our separate meals prepared for us every day. On this trip they were short one bartender/waiter, but the level of service did not drop. The rooms were well maintained and cleaned twice a day, with plenty of hot or very warm water for showers and good air conditioning. The weather was also perfect, it was our first vacation without a drop of rain, and sun and hot weather every day - that was exactly what we were hoping for, and water temperatures were between 81F to 83F !!
What was very disturbing on our trip was that the dhoni diving boat sank one night coming back from Male after getting a compressor repaired. The crew were devastated and in shock, and while some guests were only worried about their equipment on board, we were worried about the crew and terrible loss this accident caused for Maldives Livaboards. The good news was that the crew on board the dhoni were safe. We were so lucky to have Gundi Holm (the manager of Maldives Liveaboards)on the boat with us when this happened, as she and Hussen were able to find another diving dhoni for the next day, and at the same time under all this stress, they kept the boat running smoothly and made sure the guests were entertained and looked after. It would have been impossible for Gundi to have done so much for us if she had been in her office in Austria. No one can be blamed for this terrible accident, the loss of a few dives for something so unusual to happen should not be considered as normal operating procedures by the company. By the way, the divemasters located almost all of the guest's diving equipment, but some people lost their suits, and they were given rental suits. The only thing we lost was a mask container.
Because the dhoni diving boat sank, our original trip was changed from going to Vaavu which was south, to going to the north. I actually enjoyed the second week of diving more than the first week. Two years ago we had gone on the southern trip, which is mainly channel diving, with no thilas, and my comments in my dive log were that the currents were very strong (OMG currents!!), and we hadn't seen nearly as many sharks, mantas and variety of sea life as we had on this trip with the changed route.
Would we go back - yes.

We were on a two week trip on the Baani Explorer Jan 20 to Feb 3, 2008, which was our seond trip with them. It was great to see some of the same staff from two years ago. We want to thank Hussen, Mussa, Malik and Veejay for all their help, and a very special thanks to Guyan who really went out of his way to provide excellent service. We had a wonderful group of divers on board from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and even Brazil. We hope that we will be able to dive with the friends we made again. We had a lot of fun, and truly excellent diving. We saw more sharks and manta rays than any other place we've been, and the abundance of fish life and condition of the reefs was amazing - it was really an underwater photographer's dream vacation. We also had the pleasure of meeting Gundi on board, and we enjoyed her enthusiasim and love of diving and the Maldives. We will have a lifetime of memories of the great people we spent time with on board, and of course - fantastic diving.

We travelled with Baani Expolrer (3 times), Stingray (2x) and Baani Adventure last week (20.-27.01.08). In my opinion Stingray and Baani Explorer offers the best Service you can find at Liveaboards at Maldives. If you like to have more details please do not hesitate to contact me via mail. Herbert

After a long year of hard working we decided to take a break on the Baani Adventurer. It turned out to be splendid. Many thanks to the very responsible diveguides Hussein, Saïf and Malik. Hussein is a great manager! Despite defavourabe weatherconditions, diving was magnificent; whaleshark, manta's, eagleray, turtle, sharks, some very nice small stuff... Cabines are nice and very well maintained. If you can go for the suites! Eating on board is a pleasure for the eyes and mouth. I used to be a cook myself so I'm wellplaced to judge, thanks Chef! Many thanks also to the rest of the crew (Baani and Dhoni). Day and night they were ready to do anything possible for their guests. Last but not least words of thank to the captains of the Baani and Dhoni who took us safely and comfortly across the Maldives. They are very skilled skippers and have a great knowledgde of the sea. We hope to come back one day...

Hello everyone! A little bit late to say thank you to the great crew on the “Bani Explorer” and Gundi! But they made my dream holiday reality. It was very exciting to pass the exam for the Open Water Diver on this ship. I really enjoyed the atmosphere which can’t get better. The dives were my greatest experience in my life. You can see everything you can imagine. I hope we will see as a second time.

How can we begin to say thank you for a great experience? We have just returned from a fantastic week on the Adventurer with Thipe and Hussein and the only suitable word is BOMBASTIC !!!!! The entire crew were brilliant. Chef kept us wondrerfully sustained, Captains put us right on the TOP dive spots and the rest of the crew always seemed to be around exactly where they were needed whether it was a beer or a lift with a BCD. High spots have to be the crowd of wonderful divers on the boat, swimming with the Whale Shark and 8 Manta at Lankan. Thanks to everyone we met and to all of the support team for providind a superb Maldevian ADVENTURE. We will be back !!

Dear all,
I just wanted to drop a line and say thank you to all the crew members and the other guests for an amazing week. I can but recommend the Baani Explorer. It can't get better. Now, get yourself a weather manipulating machine in order to prevent the regular mid-May rains and I'd call you gods ;D
Special thanks to Hussen who taught me diving with lots of patience and talent.
Best wishes from my temporary work office in Mumbai (Bombay).
Cheers, Robert

Back from a trip on the Explorer a month ago and Just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you for a great week and to congratulate you on the team that exists on the Explorer. Great food and accomodation through to the boat staff and of course the supeb dive leaders; Hussen (aka Whaleshark supremo), Tippe (aka rough rider) and of course Rafaf (aka Shakira). All in all a great week and I am looking forward to my next trip with you. Thanks again for all your efforts and hard work to make it such a memorable (whaleshark and mantas on the same dive!) week.
